Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was all praise for the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football team after they won the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Saturday.

JDT defeated Tajikistan club Istiklol FC 1-0 in the final at the republic's Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

"Congratulations @OfficialJohor! Succeeded in making Malaysian football history by bringing home AFC Cup!," he said in his latest Twitter posting.

Argentinian import player, Leandro Velazquez scored the lone goal in the 22nd minute of the match.

JDT also made history by becoming the first Malaysian team to qualify for the AFC Cup final since its introduction in 2004.
