KUALA LUMPUR: Astro AWANI picked up four awards at the World Association of News Publishers' (WAN-IFRA) Digital Media Awards Asia 2022.

The announcement was made at the Digital Media Asia conference in Singapore on Thursday (Nov 3).

The Kuala Lumpur-based broadcaster won Gold and Silver in the best Special Project in COVID-19 category. Its visual data project features statistics and critical data trends to illustrate the latest updates of the coronavirus outbreak.

“The data goes live as soon as the Health Ministry makes the announcement. They are presented using data visualisation so that users are able to track progression," says Zaireen Aliza Muhamad Zohadie, assistant vice-president of Digital Operations.

Astro AWANI also bagged Gold in the Best Branded/Sponsored Content Campaign category on modern-day farming, a campaign that was developed for Agrobank.

"In a competitive media landscape, we have to diversify our storytelling formats, and be present wherever our audiences read or watch their preferred content.

Agro-X by Agrobank is a testament to our commitment in delivering multi-platform campaign strategy. This campaign has utilised TV, newsletters, social media native contents (IG Stories, posters) and online workshops all aligned to communicate the unified message we have curated for Agrobank," says Cherish Leow, the network's assistant vice-president of Branded Content.

Astro AWANI also came in as runners-up in the Best Newsletter category.
