Police have arrested the eighth suspect in the murder case of PKR Miri branch secretary Bill Kayong, Sarawak CID chief SAC Dev Kumar said.

The suspect, 28-year-old male was arrested at an entertainment centre at Piasau Utara 1, Miri, at about 1030pm last night.

The suspect is believed to be able to shed more light on the murder.

“He will be produced in the Miri Magistrate Court this afternoon for remand,” he said in a press statement today.

Dev Kumar said a few more suspects are still at large.

“We are unable to reveal their identities at this juncture so as not to jeopardise the ongoing investigation. It is a matter of time before they are traced and arrested,” he added.

The incident took place early morning, around 8.15am on June 21, but no witnesses have since come forward to assist police investigations.

The post-mortem on Bill’s remains and forensic investigation on his vehicle, a white Toyoto Hilux, had revealed that the suspect had used a shotgun to kill the 43-year-old politician.

Following the setting up of a special task force, led by Dev Kumar, to probe the murder, seven arrests have since been made.
