KUALA LUMPUR:The solid support of several political parties to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin symbolizes their trust in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and current economic challenges.

PN Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said the support shown thus denied the attempts of certain parties to bring down the current Federal government.

“Perikatan Nasional would like to thank all the top leaders and MPs from the component parties of the PN as well as other political partners such as Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) who expressed strong support for the leadership of the Prime Minister.

"This support symbolizes that all political parties that support the Perikatan Nasional government in facing the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the current economic challenges as well as reject any attempt to overthrow the current government," Hamzah said in a media statement on Monday.

This statement came a day before Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was scheduled to have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara.

Anwar in a statement on October 8 said he will present a complete document on the majority of MPs who allegedly supported him as stated during his press conference on September 23.

Meanwhile, Hamzah, who is also the Home Minister said that the Perikatan Nasional government is fully focused on managing the country's economy well and offering the best health services to all the people.

"Perikatan Nasional calls on all citizens to remain united and comply with the healthcare SOP outlined by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) to jointly repeat the success to break the COVID-19 epidemic chain," he added.
