The bombings which rocked Brussels today are a stark reminder to Malaysians and the world that violence will not end as long as there is no committed effort to end it, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said although the perpetrators had yet to be identified, in all likelihood they were terrorists.

“What happened reminds us of similar incidents befalling Paris, Jakarta, Turkey and several other nations, which we believe are the deeds of terrorists,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Ahmad Zahid expressed his sympathy to the victims and the families affected in the attacks.

“We are together with the people of Belgium and back any action that will be taken to find the culprits and bring them to justice,” he said.

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement today, said the Malaysian Government vehemently condemned the bombings in Brussels which left at least 28 people dead.
