The government is focused in monitoring Malaysians, whether within the country or overseas, who are prone to be influenced by the Islamic State (IS) movement.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the government was monitoring all direct or indirect threats from the IS.

"This is because it can have a big impact on the world safety as well as of the nation.

"The cruelty and inhuman deeds of the IS are unacceptable," he said in a written reply to Teresa Kok Suh Sim (DAP-Seputeh) who asked the Defence Minister about Malaysia's role in fighting the IS.

In the White Paper presented at the 13th Parliamentary Sitting on Nov 26, 2014, Hishammuddin said the government had clearly rejected any movement to support the IS cause.

The government, he said, would stand firm with the international community in fighting the IS, in line with the resolutions and stand of the United Nations.
