The government is committed and serious in assisting the people especially those in rural areas to tackle the cost of living by organising various initiatives among them 'MyBest Buy' programme.

The programme organised by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is an effort under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) with the aim of helping the people save by offering goods, five to 20 per cent cheaper.

The Malaysian Ambasasador to Cambodia Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said even though the effort might seem small, it gave positive impact to the community.

"This shows the government cares about fighting the rising cost of living.

"We can also see the success of the government in producing more entrepreneurs especially in the food truck business so that they could trade without having to pay rent," he told the media.

Hasan, who is also Kuala Pilah MP, disclosed this to reporters after opening "MyBest Buy" programme at Kuala Pilah FAMA here today.

He said there was good response from the people to the programme as it met their needs.

"I could see it was drizzling just now but the poeple still queued up to buy the 5kg cooking oil at RM18.50 compared to RM21 in the market," he said.

Meanwhile FAMA state director Muslim Manja said the 'MyBest Buy' programme had been held at three locations in the state.

Apart from Kuala Pilah, it was also held at FAMA Training Institute in Port Dickson and the Community and Caravan Markets in Paroi.

"In future, we plan to hold it in Jempol.

"The monthly programe is held on a Monday from 8am to 3pm," he said.

Muslim said 50 traders took part in the programme today.

Among the essential goods are big onions which was sold at RM3 a sack, fresh chicken (RM7.80 per kg), sweet corn (RM10 for 12 pices) and coconut milk at RM10.50 per kg. - BERNAMA
