A hungry nine-year-old jumped off the second floor balcony at the Civil Servants Housing apartment in Precinct 18 here today to find her mother.

The girl, who was left alone in a locked apartment unit since morning, sustained mouth and dental injuries in the 1.30pm incident.

Her neighbour, who insisted anonymity, said she heard a loud bang which was followed by a child's cry and was shocked to see the bleeding girl on the ground.

"She was crying and asking me to call her mother. When I asked why she jumped off the balcony, she said she was scared and hungry and wanted to go to her mom's office," said the neighbour.

Putrajaya police chief ACP Rosly Hassan, who was alerted about the incident said, the girl was currently in stable condition after receiving treatment at the Putrajaya Hospital.

No police report was lodged, he added.
