Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Musa Ahmad has described the official opening of the Kompleks Permata Insan at the university as being capable of churning out more Muslim intellectuals.

He said with the opening of the complex by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, he was determined to churn out top Muslim intellectuals as had been achieved hundreds of years ago.

"Insha Allah, we dream of a glorious era of integrating the Spiritual and Intellectual knowledge that would be created and expanded so that the glorious history of churning Muslim intellectuals will be repeated by the children of Permata Insan," he said in his welcoming speech in conjunction with the official opening of the Kompleks Permata Insan, here.

Musa said with the determined efforts of the prime minister's wife who is also the Patron of the Permata Programme, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in introducing the programme, the nation was now moving another step higher in the educational paradigm shift featuring smart and intelligent students to become the second-echelon generation and subsequently drive the nation in future.

Musa said that in efforts to strengthen the Permata Insan educational programme, the university had also set a long-term target through the USIM Strategic Plan 2016-2025 which outlined two major objectives for students of the programme.

The first objective outlined in the academic direction for Permata Insan students was planning the achievement of students to produce Nobel Laureate through various research and learning activities in the long term.

Secondly, the use of 21st century learning approach where they would be exposed and trained in the use of technology in learning such as iPad, Apple TV and the existing teaching and learning applications.
