Gua Musang Member of Parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah retained his Gua Musang Umno division chief post which he has held for over five decades since 1962.

He defeated his challenger, former division Youth head Datuk Bazlan Baharuddin in the divisional election, here, Saturday.

Tengku Razaleigh garnered 427 votes compared to Bazlan's 156, enabling the former finance minister to continue helming the division.

Tengku Razaleigh, 78, is the longest-serving division chief in Kelantan after holding the post for 15 terms with no record of defeat in the divisional elections.

Speaking to reporters, Bazlan said he accepted the result with an open heart and pledged to strengthen the party.

In the Gua Musang divisional election, its deputy chief Datuk Nozula Mat Diah and vice-chief Ab Aziz Yusof won their posts unopposed.
