Mara Digital which started operating on Dec 8 recorded a sale of RM1.7 million in its first month, according to Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Located at Menara Mara Kuala Lumpur, it offers communications and information technology (ICT) goods and services by 38 bumiputera entrepreneurs.

Five telecommunication companies - Maxis, Celcom, DiGi, Umobile and Red One, and two internet network service providers, P1Wimax and Fiber@Home are also operating at the premises.

"Mara Digital charges the same price as other popular ICT shopping centres," he said at the monthly assembly for his ministry here today.

Ismail Sabri said Mara Digital was one of the transformations by his ministry to create a high income techno-hub for youth entrepreneurs.

"In the context of producing more ICT entrepreneurs under the entrepreneurial development holistic model through this centre (Mara Digital), Mara materialised wholesalers, anchor tenants, marketing platforms, entrepreneurial training and finance facilities," he said.

Ismail Sabri said two more 'Mara Digital' would be opened at Anggerik Mall, Shah Alam and Damansara by June this year, while Terengganu would have one soon.
