KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with Raya festivities, Maxis has rolled out several initiatives to bring joy to families and students of the B40 group as well as persons with disabilities (PwD), including collaborating with Persatuan OKU Sentral to assist the disabled to venture into a virtual entrepreneurship programme.

The programme, dubbed eKelas Usahawan, comprises a series of digital workshops with a practical and hands-on approach to equip entrepreneurs with the right digital tools and skills to grow their respective businesses and expand their income opportunities.

Among the modules developed include tips and basic skills on marketing, digital photography, copywriting and planning for marketing and advertising campaigns via online and social media platforms.

Maxis chief corporate affairs officer Mariam Bevi Batcha said festive seasons were a special occasion for the company to engage with various groups nationwide.

"Our outreach programmes take deep root in the lives of the people we serve and we hope that our humble contribution will have a positive impact on these communities and empower them through digitalisation, no matter their unique and diverse needs," she said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, OKU Sentral president Datuk Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi expressed her delight over the collaboration with Maxis in a bid to bring a positive impact to the PwD community and ensure they are not left behind.

"It is inspiring to see how we can empower them to expand their income opportunities and achieve new possibilities with the right digital tools," said Ras Adiba, who was present at the launching of the Maxis Raya campaign.

Apart from the entrepreneurship programme for the PwD, Maxis, under its Raya campaign, also distributed over 150 food boxes to B40 households in Pasir Mas and Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, that were impacted by floods.

Students from B40 communities also received school supplies, with a total of 50 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Padang Garuda in Pahang benefitting. They also received information to help them access Maxis' eKelas programme.

eKelas is Maxis' flagship community programme which provides access to quality education for Primary 4 to Form 5 students through live tutorials, group learning, competitions and digital content that is aligned with the National school syllabus.
