More than 500,000 consumers in Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Marang have been affected by water supply disruption since last night due to a technical glitch.

Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd (SATU) chief executive officer Atemin Sulong said 80 per cent of residents in this city and Kuala Nerus were affected and the rest in Marang.

The cause was the main switch at the Air Kepong water treatment plant exploding and burning after being hit by lightning, he told Bernama.

He said repairs would be completed by today and that the concessionaire would be despatching water tankers to assist consumers.
