KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Sustainable Development Goals Trust Fund (MySDG Trust Fund) launched today is a multi-donor mechanism to enable different parties in the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia.

The parties include the government, the private sector, corporate bodies, entities within and outside of Malaysia, as well as individuals, "to collaborate in achieving the SDGs, in the spirit of the collective and a whole-of-nation Keluarga Malaysia approach," said a joint media statement from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the United Nations (UN).

The MySDG Trust Fund is a collaboration between the government and the UN in Malaysia which provided a platform to gather contributions to support the Sustainable Development Agenda (Agenda 2030).

"Among the objectives are to eradicate all categories of poverty, fighting inequality, create peace, overcome environmental problems and to ensure that no one in Keluarga Malaysia is marginalised in the flow development," Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in launching the fund today.

In the immediate term, the MySDG Trust Fund will be geared towards funding projects to build back better from the COVID-19 pandemic, and towards the preservation of Malaysia's natural environment and its biodiversity.

Subsequently, the scope of programmes and projects under this fund will be expanded to other SDG-related projects. Ultimately, all these initiatives will complement the government's efforts to revive the economy and develop the people's wellbeing sustainable, said the joint statement.
