The implementation of the National Security Council bill clearly demonstrates the government's commitment in taking preventive measures to ensure the security and safety of the nation.

Senator Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah said the Bill would allow the government to act swiftly in responding to national security issues.

In supporting the Bill, he told Bernama that further improvements on the Bill were needed, in terms of its execution and the authoritative role involved, for the bill to be accepted by all Malaysians.

Meanwhile, Senator Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam said the Bill should not be politicised but be viewed in the context of national security.

He said the bill would be useful in protecting the country against worsening external threats.
