Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) Deputy President Datuk Huan Cheng Guan denied that the party is a Barisan National (BN) proxy for the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary seat by-election.

“I will only contest on a PCM ticket and not as a proxy to BN,” he said to the media after the nomination in Sri Pinang Hall today.

Earlier, Penang Chief Minister who is also the DAP general secretary Lim Guan Eng during the press conference in the Sri Pinang Hall claimed BN has sent a proxy to contest in the by-election.

Huan will be facing 38-year-old DAP candidate Ramkarpal Singh and two other independent candidates 63-year-old, Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar and 46-year-old Abu Bakar Sidek Mohamad Zan.

When asked about his hopes for the by-elections, Huan said he expects a tough battle but also hope not to lose his deposit.

“Though it’s a tough fight, we (PCM) will try our best to boost our supporters…with the strength of a small army which consists of 100 members campaigning from house-to-house.

“I will also take to the field and approach residents and address their concerns,” Huan said.

Meanwhile, the PAS candidate who is contesting on an independent ticket, Mohamed Nabi Bux and another independent candidate Abu Bakar Sidek promised to help the Penang residents if they win the by-election.

“There are still many people in this state, especially those in Bukit Gelogur who need my service,” said Abu Backer Sidek, a lawyer from Kampung Maka.

Mohamed Nabi Bux also declared his stand to fight for the people of this state.
