A local man has been detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) as the hunt for remnants of Sulu terrorists continues.

Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the 38-year-old man was detained in Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu yesterday afternoon in Operation Daulat.

Police also detained a 45-year-old woman in possession of an identity card from the Sulu Sultanate in Kampung Sungai Bilis, Felda Sabahat near here.

"We are still investigating their involvement in the intrusion by Sulu terrorists," he told a press conference at Operation Daulat base in Felda Sahabat 16, near here.

Meanwhile, another mobile police station was placed in Kampung Tanjung Labian and Kampung Tanjung Batu this morning to increase public confidence in the security situation.

Tan said as of 1pm today, 20 police reports have been made on the loss of property to the terrorists as several houses were razed to the ground.

He believed that more police reports on loss of property will be made by the villagers.

In addition to the mobile police station, security forces will continue conduct patrol to improve the safety.

"We believe that villagers in the red zone will not be afraid anymore and will continue with their normal life," he added.
