The Election ChairmanTan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof and his deputy Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar should be answerable to all the questions raised instead of challenging people, said Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli.

“If what I had exposed was wrong, they can take legal action against me. But both of them are calling out challenges instead of clearing the EC’s name, if they have nothing to hide,” said Rafizi.

He said the name calling by the EC chairman depicts the lack of professionalism and biased attitude something more than how a politician would sound like.

“I have repeated about the exposure on the indelible ink and the process involved outside of the Dewan Rakyat. I have questioned the role and participation of the EC in this process that has shrouded doubts over the integrity and the people’s trust on them.

“As the top management of EC, both are responsible for this matter- from the failure of the indelible ink to the appointment of the supplier through a direct negotiation of hogging the entire contract as well as failing to complete the job properly,” he said.

He added the statements made outside of Dewan Rakyat were sufficient for them to take action. There should not be a room for both to deflect from the pertinent questions instead of coming out with statement like ‘who is the man’.

“The issue here is that both have failed to carry out the election with fairness, integrity and freely. When the matter of the indelible ink was investigated, the problem is from the contracts, which were given to certain individuals directly.

“As the top management of EC, they have to be responsible that they have failed in this matter,” he said.

On July 24 during the Kuala Besut by-election Abdul Aziz challenged Rafizi linking them to the indelible ink supplier.

Abdul Aziz said Rafizi cannot use his parliamentary immunity to make baseless allegations without giving the accused the chance to defend themselves.
