The Penang police are still looking for two other suspects in connection with the loss of three bags, containing RM500,000, in a security van at Taman Selat, Butterworth, last Thursday.
Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said one of the suspects was a former employee of a security firm.
"So far, the police have arrested two suspects, both in their 40s, including an employee at the security firm, and are looking for the two other suspects," he told reporters here on Monday.
He said the three bags were realised missing at about 7.45pm last Thursday when an employee of the security firm wanted to take them to be kept in the office.
"Since it was already late and the bank had closed operations for the day, the employee concerned wanted to keep the bags, which contained money collected from the company's clients, to be kept in the office," he added.
In another development, Abdul Rahim said 10 men were detained in connection with the death of a Myanmar national in a house fire in Kampung Pantai Acheh, Balik Pulau last Saturday.
Initially, the victim's death was classified as sudden death, but a post mortem conducted on the body injury on the head and the case has been categorised as murder," he added.
Earlier, Abdul Rahim accompanied Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public order director, Datuk Seri Salleh Mat Rasid, at the Op Selamat at KM26, Pusat Sehenti Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) in Sungai Bakap here.
