A claim that a vessel belonging to China's Navy has intruded into the waters of Bintulu, Sarawak and Beting Patinggi Ali, as reported in the social media is untrue.

Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) chief Admiral Datuk Seri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said since Nov 18, no Chinese vessel was reported in the area.

"The vessel seen was a patrol boat at 12 nautical miles offshore or outside the territorial waters of Malaysia," he said in a statement here today.

The RMN monitors Malaysian territory in the South China Sea, including Beting Patinggi Ali, and is supported by the Royal Malaysian Air Force and the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency.
