PETALING JAYA: Two naval helicopters reportedly crashed while undergoing training at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Camp in Lumut, Manjung, Perak.

According to the Operations Center (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, they received an emergency call at 9.50am, on Tuesday.

"On arrival at the fire station, it was found that there had been a collision between two helicopters, according to a statement.

A helicopter (AS5530) was boarded by three people and all the victims were confirmed to be dead at the scene.

"While another Phenix helicopter (AW1139) was carrying seven victims. Four victims are currently being removed," said the statement.

There was a collision in the air before each crashed on the steps of the TLDM Base Stadium and near the Lumut TLDM Sports Complex swimming pool.

The two helicopters involved were a Fennec M502-6, and a HOM M503-3.

According to initial reports, the Operations Center (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, a total of 10 victims were involved and died in the crash.

The fire department is still in the process of removing the victims from the two helicopters.
