Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz has denied speculations that she will be resigning from her post.

Instead, she said she will remain until her term expires in April next year.

"I will remain as the Governor until my term expires. My contract is for five years and the term expires next year," Zeti said at a press conference after announcing Malaysia's second quarter GDP results today.

She also denied talks that she is not well.

"I don't have medical issues. My doctor told me that my heart is very strong and arteries clean. I have done medical check-ups and everything is okay," the 68-year old said.

There were earlier rumours that Zeti is unwell and had suffered a heart attack. However, her office had clarified that there were no truth to such talks.

Zeti was also asked if she would seek to extend her term, but she said she wants to concentrate on writing a book.

"16 years is too long. I have done what I had wanted to do. There are many more things to be done like migrating to electronic payment," she said.

At the same function, Zeti had also announced Malaysia's economy expanded by 4.9 per cent in the second quarter (Q2) of 2015.
