KUALA LUMPUR:Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin called on Malay leaders to unite under Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"I would like to remind myself and invite all of you to look at the greater good, which is more important.

"It would be nice if all the Malay and Muslim leaders in this country can be united as being fragmented will weaken us.

"If we only think along the lines of our own group and party interests, we will forever be divided.

"Thus the call for unity among the Malays for the unity of the nation will just remain as rhetoric, an elusive dream that will never materialise in our lifetime, "he said.

Muhyiddin made the comment in his policy speech at the 3rd Bersatu annual general assembly held virtually today.

Bersatu and UMNO, he further explained, used to be political enemies in the 14th General Election but were destined to be allies through the establishment of Perikatan Nasional.

"During this challenging time, I would like to invite everyone to think for a moment. Let's try to reflect. Think deeply.

"Is it destiny from Allah SWT that links Bersatu and UMNO, including Pas, under one political coalition. For it to happen just like that without any wisdom behind it, don't you think that Allah SWT is actually testing us?" Muhyiddin said.

He reminded delegates that the current crisis between Bersatu and UMNO was a test from Allah SWT.

Muhyiddin stressed that the crisis should be seen as an opportunity to strengthen unification between the two parties.

"It's time for all Malay leaders to set aside political differences, rise above politics and strengthen ties for the greater good, for Malay unity.

"I believe that Malay unity would ensure political stability in the country, which will be beneficial to everyone," he said.
