Former Melaka PAS Youth head Jauhar Mohd Dawi today left the party to join the newly set up Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB).

Jauhar, who is also Melaka GHB deputy coordinator, said he left PAS as he had lost confidence in the PAS leadership selected at the last party assembly which he described as having deviated from the original struggles of the Opposition Pact.

"There are many issues (in PAS) on slandering and labelling, as well as the recent (party) election. The politics championed by the new leaders have deviated from the objective of strengthening the 'Pakatan Rakyat'.

"I am deeply disappointed and need to move to Harapan Baru (GHB) because they are carrying a model that is positive, it is also an Islamic movement...it (GHB) is more inclusive, tolerant, and moderate in carrying Islam into the plural society in Malaysia," he told reporters, here today.
