UMNO Wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil has called on party members who had demanded for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's resignation as UMNO deputy president to quit doing so.

She said Muhyiddin had the right and would not break any party rule should he decide to remain in the position.

"There is no need to ask him to resign," she told a media conference after opening the Bera UMNO division's Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri Delegates' Meetings at Kompleks Rakan Muda Bera here today.

She said this when asked to comment on Muhyiddin's media statement today that he would not quit the post even though there were calls by party division chiefs for him to "resign and take a rest".

Also present at the media conference were Bera division chief Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, Wanita chief Zanariah Sahadan, Pemuda chief Mohd
Shahrizat said the resignation calls were not a new issue as there had also been demands for Najib to quit as prime minister.

She said both leaders must be given space and need not entertain the calls.

She said the people should use the proper platform if they wanted to remove the leaders.

"Do it appropriately, at the next election or party election," she said.
