UMNO members are urged to nurture the spirit of political inclusiveness in order to ensure the continuity of Barisan Nasional (BN) in the country’s political landscape.

UMNO Supreme Council member, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican however said, the issue now is whether UMNO is willing to change in order to remain close to the people.

“It is as though we have no choice, we are challenged with the openness of printed information and the cyberspace which is the reference of today’s society.

“Does UMNO want to be labelled as an egoistic party which does not listen to the cries of the people?” said Reezal when met at the UMNO General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre, today.

Reezal was commenting on the recipe of UMNO’s continuity after 68 years of its establishment.

The term inclusive can be associated with equality, justice and individual rights in the allocation of sources such as politics, education, social and economy.

Reezal who is also Kepala Batas MP also said that the term inclusive is seen as a big responsibility which should be carried by all members and party leaders together with other component parties.

“If the spirit is there, it can solve any internal problems including any dispute between the parties under BN.

“Although BN is seen as a united party, we should realise that there are still room for improvement,” said Reezal.

He also added that the spirit carried by former leaders and members in understanding the political and economical phenomenon should be used as a platform to outline the true meaning of inclusiveness.

“This is for the benefit of all leaders and members in understanding the political and economical issues as a whole and appreciating the friendships in BN,” he added.

Reezal also touched on the continues attack by the opposition which he admits could ‘shake’ the peoples’ confidence towards UMNO and BN.

“This is why we should remain committed, united and be confident in fending off any form of attack.
“UMNO members themselves should remember that they are not perfect and the people are looking for a party with integrity,” he said.
