Former Minister at Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim will hold a press conference at his residence in Tropicana Golf Resort in Petaling Jaya tomorrow to announce his decision to join DAP.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP advisor, Lim Kit Siang are expected to attend the event which is scheduled at 9.30am.

DAP is rumoured to use Zaid’s high-profile image to squash allegation that the political party is dominated by the Chinese.

Zaid in a video uploaded on his Facebook today stressed that the cancellation of the press conference scheduled at the Royal Selangor Club (RSC) in Bukit Kiara today was due to ‘political pressure’.

RSC General Manager, Ramesh Menon in a statement today has clarified that the cancellation of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's press conference was an internal matter and not an instruction from the government.

The club member had notified them of the purpose and aim of the intended event which clashed with the club's policy which is to allow members to book available rooms for social and sporting events.

The club's general committee had cancelled the booking to use its clubhouse because Zaid's event did not meet these requirements.

The club had also informed Zaid of the decision by a telephone call and formal letter.
