Former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and Kelantan FA (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa is ready to withdraw from the race for the post of FAM president in Khairy Jamaluddin agrees to contest.

Annuar said Khairy who is also the Youth and Sports Minister was the most suitable candidate to fill the 'hot seat' after having managed MyTeam and sat on the FAM ranks as Deputy President.

"My nomination would not be relevant if KJ (Khairy) agrees to become a candidate...Good luck KJ. I hope he can fulfill the aspirations of the fans to see Malaysian football climb to the Top 100 Nation status.

"For that I hope KJ can expand the National Football Development Blue Print to include a 30-year grace period to transform the DNA of Malaysian football," he said in a statement here, Thursday.

Other names lobbied for the post are the Tunku Mahkota of Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and FAM Integrity Committee chairman Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat.

All candidates nominated for the post must give their consent by Feb 13 and announcement would be made on Feb 20, after the names of the candidates are screened by the FAM exco.
