Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said she hoped that the national shuttler who was confirmed to have failed a doping test, will be treated fairly.

Rosmah, who is also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's wife, said she also hoped that the shuttler would exercise patience and wait for the final decision by the authorities conducting the investigation.

"I was informed about this and BAM will do all it can and is capable of to help the player.

"I hope he will be patient and we are waiting for the final decision. I don't know when and I hope he will be given due justice. We leave it to the authorities concerned to decide," she said.

She said this to reporters after the conclusion of the Wives of Barisan Nasional (BN) Elected Representatives (PTIWRBNM) annual assembly at Stadium Putra here, here today.

Rosmah said she also hoped that badminton fans especially in Malaysia, would understand the situation faced by the player and continue to give their support regardless of the outcome.

Today, BAM announced that the national badminton icon was confirmed positive on 'dexamethasone' in the test on sample B which was performed at Oslo University in Norway on Wednesday.

The player has been suspended until the completion of the appeal process.
