The Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) this weekend will feature a mystery rider who will race on a wild card.

SIC CEO Datuk Razlan Razali said the mystery rider will replace John Mcphee (Team Peugeot MC Saxoprint) in the Moto3 category.

"The mystery rider will replace Mcphee who cannot race after suffering an injury in a crash at Philip Island Circuit, Australia, yesterday.

"John Mcphee's team contacted me to find a Malaysian rider to race on a wild card this week. I hope to get the approval of the rider today.

"I will announce the mystery rider tomorrow," he said at a tea session with SIC Racing Team riders, Adam Norrodin and Jakub Kornfeil at KLCC, here Monday.

Amirul Afiq Azmi and Mohd Helmi Azman are among three riders shortlisted. Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin is believed to be the third rider. -- Bernama
