Malaysian mixed martial arts (MMA) star, Peter Davis wants to prove to the world that Malaysian MMA is here to stay, and vows to do his best in the upcoming ONE FC showdown, Age Of Champions.

Davis will be taking on Indian MMA veteran, Rajinder Singh Meena in the lightweight category this Friday.

"I'm doing it for Malaysia to prove a point that Malaysia is good at mixed martial arts. It's here to stay, and that's what we set out to prove and we're going to be there doing our very best and showing it to the world," said the 33-year-old pan-Asian fighter.

He said although the burden of carrying the Malaysian flag is rather heavy, but he will make sure that the pressure will carry him forward, landing him a victory against his opponent.

Commenting about the fight, Davis said he will try as much as possible to keep it standing up as his opponent is known to be quite dangerous on the ground.

However, he is confident that he will gain victory through a knockout strike.

"The fight should end up with a knockout of some description, but I hope it's not going be me. I'm not going to let that be me.

"If it's standing up, it's going be a knockout but if it's on the ground, it's probably going to end in a technical knockout (TKO)," he said.

Meanwhile, Davis also expressed high hopes for other Malaysian MMA athletes fighting in the tournament.

"I hope the Malaysian fighters can give their best, win as many fights they can win. But if you lose, don't worry because you're going to get an experience.

"So gain that experience, learn from it and push forward... push until you can better yourself and beat the guys who are better than you," he advised.

Five Malaysian MMA fighters will be facing their opponents at home ground at ONE Championship's upcoming bout in Kuala Lumpur on March 13.

Among the highlights of the event is the Malaysian Warrior Superfights which will feature Davis against Rajinder Singh, and Malaysian MMA darling Ann Osman taking on Egypt's Walaa Abbas.

Davis is known to be the face of Malaysia's MMA with a professional record of nine wins and three losses (9-3).
