"I am OK, undergoing dialysis treatment three times a week. I still read and do some work other than tending to my grandchildren."

This was the reply of former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail when asked about his health by the public during the Bar Council forum on the Security Offences Act (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) Tuesday.

A smiling Abdul Gani told the forum that he was enjoying a happy life surrounded by good friends.

Abdul Gani's participation in the forum was his first appearance after his tenure as attorney-general was terminated in July for health reasons.

On July 27, the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa announced that Abdul Gani's tenure as attorney-general was terminated and replaced by former Federal Court judge, Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.
