Fujifilm aims to increase its market share this year in line with the launch of its new upgraded digital cameras FUJIFILM X100s and X20.

Fujifilm (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Senior Executive Director, Paul Ho, said for the premium category the company was aiming to increase its market share to 35 per cent from the current 25 per cent.

"We aim to sell 10,000 units of both these cameras in Malaysia this year," he told Bernama at the launching of the cameras here today.

"We believe that quality products matched by a strong advertising campaign will help us to achieve our sales target."

Ho said the new and improved features of the cameras offered a multitude of advantages that will enable photographers to craft superior quality images and enjoy the shooting experience with greater ease.

"Our consumer target for both models are photography enthusiasts and professional photographers who value premium quality image, and the younger generation."

Meanwhile, the FUJIFILM X100s inherits the X100's elegant design and high performance lens with introduction of a higher definition hybrid viewfinder and a sensor and processor.

The FUJIFILM X20 comes with high-precision lens and refined design with X-Trans CMOS II sensor, EXR processor II and the newly developed advanced optical viewfinder.

The X100s will be available in black and silver while X20 will be available in black, two-tone black and silver.
The camera will be available in Malaysia by early March this year and will be retailed at RM3,988 for X100s and RM1,988 for X20.

Ho said the company has set a target of RM230 million in total sales this year, with 18 per cent contribution from the digital camera segment.

Several new camera models have also been lined up to be launched later this year.

"FUJIFILM has been at the forefront in terms of product innovation with advanced functionalities. We expect the market to expand with a new generation of photographers using sophisticated cameras embedded with digital technology," Ho said.

The company is the local distributor for FUJIFILM products, including cameras, storage media, photo-finishing supplies and films.
