The government's move to introduce a new policy to increase Bumiputera's participation in the economy is seen timely.

Umno Supreme Council Economic Committee Chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said that if action was not taken, it may affect the Bumiputera economy in the long run.

According to Abdul Ghani, there should be more emphasis to make the policy more comprehensive.

He said that after the New Economic Policy (NEP) ended, the Bumiputera economic performance remained unchanged and there are fear of a slump.

Abdul Ghani believes the new policy, which will be introduced could ensure a better social justice for all people.
