NBC has announced that American singer and actress Jessica Simpson will play herself in a comedy series based on her life. The show, which does not yet have a title, could start in the fall if the network likes the pilot episode.

Just like Justin Bieber, whose life story is being adapted by ABC, Jessica Simpson will be the subject of a show. The singer will play herself alongside two actors -- to be announced -- who will play her father/manager and her fiancé, former American football player Eric Johnson.

Jessica Simpson is used to TV cameras. Apart from cameos in "That '70s Show" and "Entourage," the Texan took part in a reality TV show that captured her daily life with her then-husband and aired on MTV from 2003 to 2005. A later reality TV show featuring the singer, "The Price of Beauty," aired in 2010.
