KUALA LUMPUR:PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) and Senai-Desaru Expressway (E22) have provided a total of 221 patrol teams on the North-South Expressway and E22 in preparation for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail, in a statement yesterday, said that the teams, comprising 548 officers from the PLUSRonda team and the E22 security team, will conduct continuous patrolling on both highways.

“Their presence is to look after highway users who will be travelling for holiday to celebrate Christmas and New Year as well as to provide assistance to motorists at any time.

“The North-South Expressway and E22 provide a faster and more comfortable journey to Desaru via the Senai Utara Junction which takes less than one hour,” he said, adding that motorists only need about 45 minutes on E22 to reach Bandar Penawar Junction before heading towards Desaru.

Meanwhile, Senai-Desaru Expressway Berhad (SDEB) chief executive officer Jamal Abd Nasir Taharim said that the rest and services (R&R) areas provided on both highways could help users to enjoy a comfortable journey.

“PLUS R&Rs located in Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Pagoh and Machap as well as the R&R on E22 at Layang provide various facilities for highway users,” he said in the same statement.

PLUS and E22 also advise people who want to travel for a holiday at the end of this year to always abide by all the rules and ensure that payment facilities such as Touch ‘n Go and eWallet have a sufficient balance.
