KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 432 individuals were arrested by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on Friday.

Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the total, 414 individuals were compounded while 18 others remanded.

In a statement on Saturday, Ismail Sabri said among the offences recorded were failure to provide equipment to record customer details (108), failure to practice physical distancing (106), not wearing face mask (96), cross-state and cross-district travel without permission (51) , leaving home without reasonable cause (42), gambling activities (18), premises operating overtime / without permission (10) and others (one).

Regarding the Operation Benteng (Op Benteng), Ismail said the authorities arrested a total of 27 illegal immigrants (PATI) and seized two for boats / ships as well as a land vehicle.

In a related development, he said a total of 1,318 individuals arrived at all international entrances on Friday (February 26, 2021) and were all quarantined at such stations nationwide.

It thus brings the cumulative number of individuals who have returned home through the international border entrance since April 24 to 131,455.

Ismail Sabri also said that the enforcement teams of the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) conducted 16 inspections on construction sites nationwide on Friday and all complied with the SOP.

In total, CIDB has conducted 15,800 inspections involving 8,942 construction sites since April 20.
