Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Monday, denied speculations that he is to replace the current Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

According to Anwar, these allegations were mere speculations.

“It’s mere speculations and this matter has been ongoing since the year 2008,” said Anwar when met by reporters at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Monday.

“The discussions between Khalid and I are held weekly, not only last Sunday. We meet at least once in two weeks. More often, it’s held every week in the office or at our respective homes. They are mostly general discussions about Selangor and Pakatan Rakyat ,” said Anwar.

Meanwhile, PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution also denied rumours speculating that Khalid will resign as Menteri Besar on Wednesday.

“Abdul Khalid will carry on his duties as Menteri Besar,” he said.

The internal rift in PKR Selangor resurfaced following media reports quoting PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali who said that Abdul Khalid's might be dropped as the Menteri Besar and appointed as federal minister if Pakatan Rakyat wins in the next general elections.

The statement drew criticism from Khalid’s political secretary, Faekah Husin who said Azmin has no power to question Khalid’s authority and regarded the statement as an attempt to take control of the state’s administration.
