Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih 2.0) steering committee chairman Maria Chin Abdullah has sued Sungai Besar UMNO division chief Datuk Jamal Md Yunus for associating her with terrorist group, Daish.

She filed the lawsuit at the Civil High Court Registrar's office here through Messrs Daim & Gamany, today.

In her statement of claim, Chin, 60, alleged that Jamal made a defamatory statement against her at a media conference at Putra World Trade Centre on Sept 28, which was carried by news portals and the national print and electronic media.

She further alleged that Jamal, who is also Coalition of Malay Non-governmental Organisations and Gerakan Merah Malaysia (GMM) chairman made disparaging remarks about her at the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters compound on Oct 4, which was carried by news portals and the national print and electronic media on Oct 5.

Chin is seeking general and exemplary damages as well as an injunction order to restrain the defendant from repeating the alleged defamatory statements. - Bernama
