KUALA LUMPUR: The country's film industry has great potential and efforts to boost it should be done through collaborations between local players and more experienced international players, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said the move would help to speed up the process to bring the country's film industry to the global stage.

"We can't be satisfied with business as usual. We need to accept the fact and reality that the creative industry, especially the film industry, has enormous potential," he said at a special screening of the Air Force the Movie: Selagi Bernyawa here, last night.

According to Annuar, filmmakers must ensure that people from all walks of life can appreciate their storytelling to expand the market.

"We are one Keluarga Malaysia. Expand the films beyond racial segmentation so that we can have a bigger market," he said.

He said the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia will do whatever it takes to advance the country's film industry, including making policy changes if necessary.

He said that he hoped the Ministry of Finance will have good news for the local film industry and the creative industry in Budget 2023.

On the Air Force the Movie, Annuar said the film was unique for showcasing the Royal Malaysian Air Force assets to the audience, adding that it has succeeded in creatively expressing the spirit of patriotism.
