Family members of prisoners and inmates at prisons, reform centres and Henry Gurney School can visit them on Nov 11 and 12, in conjunction with Deepavali which falls on Nov 10.

Prisons Department Deputy Director (Prisons Policy), Supri Hashim said visiting hours would be from 8.15am to 4.15pm, and reminded visitors to bring their visit passes and identity cards.

"Priority will be given to prisoners and inmates of the Hindu faith," he said in a statement here Tuesday.

He said visitors were not allowed to bring any food or drinks for prisoners or inmates. Neither are they (visitors) allowed to give them money during visits.

"Food and drinks can be bought at the prison canteen, and if visitors wish to give money to inmates for certain purposes like paying for examination fees, they must get the PPT.28 official receipt as acknowledgement," added Supri.

He said visitors could also be subjected to a physical examination by prison authorities when they entered and left the prison.
