PUTRAJAYA:The government has agreed to allocate RM260,000 from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM)-Yayasan Wakaf Malaysia (YWM) COVID-19 Musa’adah Fund to zakat management agencies nationwide except in the Federal Territories.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, in a statement today, said the contribution was a sign of support at their noble efforts to help groups affected by the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

He also said that from March 2020 until today, the distributions of contributions through the COVID-19 Musa’adah mission by religious agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department had reached RM365 million.

Zulkifli also expressed his sympathy to the states affected by floods.

The government also agreed to provide an additional allocation of RM40,000 to the Johor Islamic Religious Council, Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council and the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council, he added.
