KOTA BHARU: The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) has come up with something different at the Kelantan Malaysian Family Aspirations (AKM) tour, with the introduction of immersive technology which merges the physical world with a digital or simulated reality.

K-KOMM deputy secretary-general (strategic communications and creative industry) Mastura Ahmad Mustafa said this is the first time immersive technology would be displayed by K-KOMM to visitors in sharing information related to the ministry including the agencies under it.

"The immersive technology exhibition creates a virtual environment with no limitation and involves physical interaction as visitors are able to use the devices which is in line with this edition of the tour themed Malaysian Family is Digital Family.

"The selection of this technology coincides with the government's desire to drive the country towards digital transformation as the public gradually gets to enjoy 5G network services by this September," she told Bernama when met at the K-KOMM booth at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, here today.

She said four types of immersive technology are on display at the K-KOMM booth including holographic technology that shows the visual image of a man on a glass screen with a voice that conveys background information and the role of K-KOMM.

"In addition, there is the Flip Book exhibition which recognises motion gesture to turn pages or images of a digital book containing related information such as 100 days of AKM, Honoring the National Symbols, National Day Celebration and Malaysia Day 2021," she said.

A host of exciting activities is in store for visitors at the Kelantan AKM tour being held from yesterday until tomorrow, among them the RIUHxJAKM Kelantan art performance, K-KOMM@JAKM Digital Carnival, international muay thai competition and Bekwoh Keluarga Malaysia.

The AKM tour is a continuation of the 100-Day Malaysian Family Aspirations programme held at 14 locations across the country to engage with the public and highlight the services of the various ministries.
