MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said that the High Court's acquittal of Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik today should finally put to rest any misconception on his role in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) project.

While congratulating Dr Ling on his acquittal of the cheating charges with regards to the PKFZ project, Dr Chua in a statement Friday said, MCA had always believed in Dr Ling's integrity in carrying out his duties as MCA president and Cabinet minister.

Dr Chua also said that MCA was always confident that the judiciary system was impartial in carrying out its duties.

"A person is innocent until proven guilty and Dr Ling can now return to life with his family after spending more than three years to prove his innocence," Dr Chua added.

The High Court today acquitted and discharged the former transport minister on a charge of having cheated the government over the PKFZ project. Judge Datuk Ahmadi Asnawi said the defence had raised a reasonable doubt on all the charges against Dr Ling.
