The Assumption Church at Lebuh Farquhar, Penang, was attacked by two Molotov cocktails early this morning, reported The Star Online.

Penang Police Chief SDCP Datuk Abdul Rahim said that the bombs were thrown into the compound of the church at around 1.30 am.

“Only one exploded, the other fell on the grass. Preliminary reports found that two men on a motorcycle had committed the act,” said Abdul Rahim.

The incident took place less than 24 hours after a banner with the words “Jesus is the son of Allah” was placed in front of the church.

It was believed that the church representatives and several other churches around the area had made a police report over controversial banner were put up at their entrance.
