KUALA LUMPUR:The national defence system and government websites are safe from hacker attacks so far, Senior Minister (Defence Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, confirmed today.

"Under the ministry, there is no (hacking incident) and we hope the ministry will continue to be safe from being hacked," he said in a press conference after conducting a survey on a roadblock here on Monday.

He said this when asked to comment on the threat of hacker group attacks on several government-owned websites.

Most recently, a group known as Anonymous Malaysia claimed to have hacked websites belonging to the Sabah and Perak state governments, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Selayang Municipal Council.

Previously, the National Security Council (NSC) through the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) had issued a warning notice to all government agencies to take the necessary measures to prevent and minimise the impact of cyber-attack threats.

In 2015, the media reported that the police arrested three individuals believed to be involved in uploading a video clip on the YouTube site entitled “We Will Blast Malaysia”.

The arrest was following a 1 minute 28 second video using the name Anonymous Malaysia which showed a bomb blast incident in Bangkok, Thailand and claimed to be taking similar action in the country.
