KUALA LUMPUR: Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Riad Malki conveyed his wholehearted appreciation to Malaysia for the guidance and support it has been providing all this while.

He conveyed this during a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein in Turkey on Friday, according to a statement from the Malaysian Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra).

Dr. Riad also praised for the country's undivided stand and said Palestine could always bank on Malaysia's support.

According to the statement, the meeting with Dr Riad is part of Hishammuddin's working visit to Turkey that began on Friday. While in Turkey, Hishammuddin is expected to attend the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Apart from that, Dr. Riad also shared with Hishammuddin on the current developments in Palestine saying his country is still subjected to Israeli atrocities.

Meanwhile, Hishammuddin told Dr. Riad that Malaysia has agreed to contribute more than USD 1 million to the Palestinian Government to rebuild the COVID-19 testing facility in Gaza, that was destroyed during Israeli bombardment last month.

"Other than Malaysia, I also suggested that countries that share the same conviction to come forward to assist and mobilise assistance for Palestine - a proposal welcomed by Dr. Riad," he said.

In concluding the meeting, Hishammuddin once again relayed Malaysia's unwavering stand in providing support for the Palestinian struggle and strongly condemned the Israeli atcrocities on Palestinians.

Hishammuddin also conveyed to Dr. Riad that he will be heading to Eygpt after wrapping up his visit to Turkey and will share what he learnt from him on Palestine with Eygptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and Foreign Minister, Sameh Hassan Shoukry when he visits the country next.
