KUALA LUMPUR:A total of 731 individuals were detained for breaching the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on Wednesday.

Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said of the total, 709 individuals were compounded, 19 remanded while three others were released on bail.

"Yesterday, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) arrested 731 individuals for disobeying SOP instructions.
“Of that number, 709 were compounded, 19 remanded while three others were released on bail.

“Among the SOP default offences include no physical distancing (207), not wearing face mask (157), failure to provide equipment to record personal/customer details (99) and cross-state/district without permission (97).

"Premises operating overtime/without permission (52), leaving home without reasonable excuse (35) and others (84).

“Although most citizens are compliant, some fail to follow the SOP as we see today (Thursday) when cases increase," he said in a press conference of the MCO.

In the meantime, explained Ismail Sabri, the PDRM Compliance Operations Task Force team has carried out 66,526 inspections nationwide.

It includes inspections at 5,764 restaurants, 4,155 supermarkets, 3,862 banks, 3,535 places of worship, 2,480 hawkers, 1,570 factories, 1,553 public/agricultural markets, 1,546 leisure places and 851 government offices.

He added that through Op Benteng, a total of 20 illegal immigrants (PATI) and a skipper were arrested while 14 boats were also seized by the authorities.
