Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has given his guarantee that the suspension of the 2015 National Service Training Programme (PLKN) will not affect the camp operators and its coaches.

“I assure the stakeholders of PLKN that the postponement this year will not affect the camp operators, coaches and permanent staffs,” said Hishammuddin via his Twitter account today.

Hishammuddin said, his quarters will cooperate with the Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin on this matter.

Apart from that he said that a discussion has been scheduled next month involving camp operators , parents, coaches, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and financial institutions aimed at executing the transformation plans for PLKN.

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the government would defer the PLKN with a savings of RM400 million, to enable the programme to be reviewed and enhanced.

In a special announcement measures to strengthen Malaysia’s economic resilience, Najib said this was one of the measures taken to rationalise the country’s expenditure.

PLKN is a three-month mandatory training course for high school leavers aged 17-year-old and above.
