Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was surprised when asked about PKR's apparent request for "one or two" seats from DAP in light of the proposed snap election in Penang.

The PKR president said it was a non-issue, as the matter had been put to rest following the announcement by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng yesterday.

"Actually, this matter is done. We will continue (the administration) as usual.

"I understand what the Chief Minister is doing and he has decided what is best for the people of Penang," she told reporters at the Selangor State Assembly lobby here today.

Yesterday, Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, had announced that the Penang state assembly would not be dissolved to make way for a snap election due to DAP not having the support of PKR, its coalition partner.

A proposal was made for DAP to give up one or two of its existing state seats to PKR to make the snap election proposal more acceptable to the PKR leadership, but PKR had justified that if early polls were held, they would risk losing more seats than DAP.

Following Lim’s announcement, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had said Lim's decision shows that the Penang CM prioritises consensus within Pakatan Harapan than anything else.

A snap poll in Penang was initially proposed to give a new mandate to Lim who is currently facing corruption charges in court over the purchase of a bungalow under market value.
